Hats in Copenhagen/K?ɬ?benhavn

BellyTank

I'll Lock Up
I have just recently moved to Wonderful Copenhagen from the Danish regions and today, stumbled across Denmarks premiere Hat Shop.
It is a 'proper' hat shop, inasmuch as it is old established and he sells only hats and has 1000s in stock. No custom work though, just an imoporter/retailer.
But- in his world, Borsalino is the best and in fairness, in Europe, people are gonna buy hats by name, European name of course and the name is Borsalino. He could not be convinced that there were 'better' offerings available, beyond Borsa'. Fair enough.
I looked at Borsalinos in Rabbit and Beaver and couldn't notice any vast tangible difference in quality but the price difference was indeed vast.
I could not find any 'taller-crowned' or 'taperless' Fedora style hats- the nicest hat I could find was a Borsalino Homburg in a pale grey with a nice, reverse taper when 'karate chopped' in the crown. The Homburg was in Rabbit, nice ribbon and bound edge and actually pretty darn nice for the price... hmmm...

However! his selection of caps- 8/4/Newsboy/Apple(called 'Sixpence' here), Ascots, etc., from Ireland and all over... is fabtastic.

His Panamas are only so-so, no fine weave types.

He does not deal with any of the hat vendors in Poland or Czech, or Portugal, although, with some negotiation and styling, these vendors could easily make a 'better' (to my or our tastes) product than the available Borsalino offerings- I have seen what the Poles and Czechs and Portugese are capable of and all that lacks is the appropriate styles/styling. Then we would have excellent Hare and Rabbit hats (and maybe Beaver) available at excellent prices in Western Europe and maybe for export.
I must look up my Eastern and Southern European contacts and get some more sampling under way...

Anyway- now I know...
