So my friend at work loves my hats. She has her own bowler she bought in Vancouver but really wanted a crocodile Dundee hat. So after some conversation about what she actually wanted we found this hat online.
https://www.hatsbythe100.com.au/akubra-snowy-river-croc-rodeo-brown.html
So she ordered one size 56.
It went missing in the mail. She sent a message to them complaining but they just response her telling her they got the address correct. It’s the post offices issue. Well is showed up today. No address on it, just a bar code. So we can’t tell who messed up on the shipping. We do know who messed up on the hat. This is what she got in the mail

Wrong hat and wrong size.
She has already submitted a ticket but is concerned they will charge her return shipping for their mess up.
Anyone else have this issue? Any advice for her? And this is a general warning about hatsbythe100. I will keep you posted as this unfolds.

Oh man that is terrible. Even worse it sounds that the error occurred to a "hat newbie." I tip my brim in your friends direction in hopes this gets solved swiftly.

Hate when that happens. Eric -

I had a similar issue occur with SunBody Hats. I received my package as I should have, but when I opened the box, the hat was not in the style that I ordered. The kicker of it all is, the receipt that was in the box had all my correct information (except my last name was terribly misspelled), but the hat on the order matched the one in the box. I called and spoke with them about it. They claim that I claimed it was the wrong hat. They're working with me on getting me the right hat, but it never crossed my mind about the shipping costs! They didn't send me a packing slip or anything, so we'll see how this plays out. Live and learn I guess!

I once had a problem with an Akubra from Hats by the Hundred. It's now around 11 years ago, so I don't know that it reflects the current company, but...

I ordered a Bogart in Carbon/Steel/Mid-Grey.... and I received a Bogart in Black. Okay, so that Akubra dark gray - I ended up getting a Stylemaster that shade soon after - is indeed a very dark gray, but it's not black. But even after I sent them pictures of the Bogart shot under bright light showing it was black, they wouldn't admit their mistake. They offered to exchange the hat "because I wasn't satisfied"... if I paid the return shipping. Rather than do that, I sold the hat on the Classifieds here for a loss.

Compared to the excellent service I've always had over the last 16 years from other Australian dealers - Everything Australian, HatsDirect, and Aussie Bush Hats & Oilskins - this stands out as my only bad experience buying an Akubra long-distance. Just sayin'...

So good news bad news. They are going to fix the mistake. She has to send it back. When they receive it she should expect a two week turn around to re-process the order. Once it’s recieved she can put her recite in to get her shipping charges back. Here is the kicker. They will only refund her shipping if it’s shipped regular post - not express. So from Canada that’s $114 and can take upwards two months.
Long story short - DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE GUYS EVER!
I have had never heard of anything this bad from a hat vender in quite some time.

This is my first time dealing with this company, so I can't say either way what kind of business they run. In the SunBody Association thread on here, loungers seemed very positive on their experiences in dealing with them, as well as with the hats that they purchased. If an honest mistake was made, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. It's frustrating on my end, but I get that these things can happen from time to time. They appear to be a busy company. They state on their website that it can take up to three weeks for orders to be shipped. I was told two weeks, and it wound up being a little over one. Who knows, maybe when I told the gal on the phone what I wanted, she was hearing something completely different. My only answer to that would be that I repeated myself to ensure we were on the same page. I never did give an actual product number, so I do blame myself for that. But I did make sure to do so when trying to clear things up. If you do end up buying from them, I strongly suggest giving them the product number.

I have ordered from them and had no problems. I chose express shipping and had to sign for the package. I do not really like having to sign but that way you know who actually got the package if there is a problem.

I ordered my first SunBody directly from the company, but my second came from One 2 Mini Ranch and it was cheaper and faster. If they don’t have the size or style you want you can ask if they’ll order it for you. This way you get the great service of a dependable domestic company and save money...what’s not to like?

Thanks for the tip Brent. Before I made the order I visited One 2 Mini Ranch's website. I didn't find the exact description of the hat I wanted, so based on that and my impatience I defaulted and went right back to SunBody themselves. Again, live and learn!

I bought my first Akubra online from Hats by the 100 and never again.
I ordered a Banjo Paterson in fawn and they shipped the hat to me in a thin cardboard box with nothing inside to protect the hat.
No retainer of any kind and no plastic around the hat, nothing at all, just my new hat thrown into a box with nothing to keep it from moving around.
When I got the hat the first thing I saw was that a corner of the box had been damaged during shipping.
When I opened the box the hat brim was all distorted and wavy and the crown and brim had some kind of dirt on it that would not brush off.
I contacted Hats by the Hundred and complained about how the hat was shipped with out a proper hat box and the dirty condition it was in, Hats by the Hundred said all they were willing to do was send me the proper Akubra box for free.
I ended up having to bring a new hat into the Hatter here in Toronto for a cleaning and shaping the brim.
In the end problems do happen when you order online.
The true test of a good hat retailer is how they react when problems occur.
For this reason I have never used Hats by the Hundred again.
I have since purchased nine more Akubra hats from Hatsdirect and Everything Australian with no issues.

I have placed one order through Hats by the Hundred, and I guess I was lucky. They had the Akubra RM Williams hat on sale, but not in a size 62. I asked if they would get a 62 in before the sale ended, and in a couple days they replied they had checked with Akubra and had a few 62s on the way. About eight days later they shipped it, and a week or so later I received it well packaged and in good shape.

This was a couple months ago, so maybe (hopefully) they have learned a little from past feedback, but it sounds like there are still issues with at least some of their employees. They treated me well, but by no means am I discounting the issues y'all have had with them. It sounds like a gamble right now, at best.

Sorry to hear it.

I've dealt with hatsbythe100 a few times and have never had a problem.

I'm in Australia (Melbourne). So closer to then than you and your friend are, and in the same time zone. Let me know if I can help at all with this. Happy to if I can.

Several purchases from them and no problems. Today PROBLEM. I purchased two identical hats made by Hills Hats New Zealand which is a highly reputable hat maker.

One of my hats was fine the other had a SEAM in the front of the hat and back. It looks like either it was a factory defect or they were trying to cover up a rip and sell it. Either way it makes the hat unwearable. To make matters worse I paid for express shipping. HBTHE100's has all sorts of return links Etc. but they can't expect me to pay shipping back to Australia. I sent both a photo and inquiry. They would be wise to do right by me. I have a spent a lot of money with them.

We shall see. This is the front of the hat......
