I need fifty of those by Friday. ;)

Arrrrrrrgggg!!!! I gotta get me a "sweatshop!"

lol

I have thought about buying a heavy leather sewing machine...but then trying to re-design the build process and that could be a stinker. (Machines don't sew diagonally through corners.)

Thanks for the fun and nice comments all. I am really enjoying the creative process. Yesterday I built a buckle attachment that resembles the lower portion of a skyscraper with the stitching as the lights. :D

I figure that within a week the prototype will be done.

I've done a fair amount of leatherwork, but the idea of sailmaker's gloves never occurred to me. Thanks for the idea! And you really are doing a nice job of getting even, regular looking stitches. That's a lot harder than it looks. Nice work!

Are you going to tool the leather?

Great question.

The Top is tooled fairly extensivly. But that isn't going to be shown until its stained. I thought about doing the sides as well continuing the Skyscrper theme with tooing to be a backdrop to the buckle areas...and would do whatever a client wanted...but with the top being what it is doing the sides might slip past classic and classy right into overdone and gaudy, But I could be wrong. I would be inclined to tool the owners initials or signature if anything...When the item is complete perhaps I will post it before staining and see what people's thoughts are or if there is a buyer who wants specifics.

The sailmakers gloves are cotton knit throwaways that I cut up (I ahve about 500 pair). The leather needle pusher on my right hand is a godsend! I have since bought some good leather work gloves and cut the fingertips out to replace the cotton as they just were not ehavy enough.
