My first post here, so pardon me if this is redundant to other threads.

I need a new replacement hatband ribbon, and am confident I can "install" it, being fairly handy with needle and thread.

A few weeks ago, I saw hatbands for sale on an internet hat seller's site, but can't find it anymore.

Nothing suitable on ebay currently.

Any suggestions? I live near LA.

Width? Color?

Cotton/rayon blend is what you want. Some people make do with the all-polyester stuff you can get at the fabric store, but it's a real compromise.

Problem is, it's not easy to find new cotton/rayon hatband ribbon in widths greater than 1 1/2 inches. I happen to have literally hundreds of yards of it in 1 1/2-inch and narrower (it's fairly inexpensive when purchased in 50-yard rolls), and I'd be happy to send you enough to re-ribbon your hat, provided I have what you want.

I think you have to have a few more posts before you can PM. Maybe we can ramble on a bit until we reach that number.

Yes, I have it in medium to dark brown, and in black. So we're set.

So, how's the weather?

Sure is. Besides being shinier, it is coarser, with fewer ribs per inch. It's fine for a beater hat, but not for anything you really want to look classic.

Thanks, I was a bit confused about the PM being blocked.

The weather has been HOT until today, we might even get some rain by Saturday.

Just saw the posts about the event at the Queen Mary in LB. Thinking about joining you all for dinner on Saturday, but wondering if I am too old (53). Form members seem to be much younger...

I've never done the QM thing, Egerland, but I seriously doubt you would be the most senior person at the gathering, should you attend.

Several of us here are contemporaries of yours, and some of us are on the verge of genuine geezerhood. And yet they trust us with the computers.
