From Robert Ruark's "Poor No More" (this part set in the mid-50's)
Craig Price (the protagonist) is on safari and has fallen in love with Africa. His hunting guide is describing the savage interplay between the various animals, Craig compares that to the cutthroat business world. On the last day Craig is bemoaning the fact he has to go back to a place where...
"All the mountains have elevators and the hyenas wear narrow-shouldered suits and undented hats with bows in the back."
Relevence? I dunno. I like the idea that description would evoke a visual for the readers back then, where I have to get it from context and wouldn't have caught even that a year ago.
