Hat Stretcher?

Hi folks,

I'd like to buy a hat stretcher but I really don't know what type to buy. There are some nice ones on ebay but it's a little confusing. If they are marked "6 3/4" does that mean that is the maximum size or minimum size or something else? Are the wood ones the best with the twist handle in the middle? How do you use one - do you do this in stages, use steam too, etc.? I'm only going up one size but I want to do this right. Thanks!

I bought a Hallet stretcher via Ebay and it has worked well.
