I got an UGG bucket hat for Christmas. Not vintage, I know. . but warm for PA winters. Here's my question. I have a lot of old hat pins that I wear on my "dress up" hats. Do you think I can use on of them on my bucket hat? Just trying to give it some flair. It's dark brown and simple

what do you ladies think? yes or no?

I would say yes. Just pick a plainer one that matches the tone of the hat. My grandmother on my mom's side wore hats all the time (she was born in 1906) and always wore a hat pin. She only had about three or four. She had a white pearl one and a grayish one that she wore with her everyday hats, even her straw hats for summer. She had a jewelled one with white rhinestones that she wore sometimes to church and for weddings, etc. She said they were good for protection and that if anyone tried to mess with her (her words) she would stab them with her hat pin!!
I wonder what happened to those pins.

Esme, Thank you. I have some of my grandmother's pins and I am going to use the plain pearl one. We are expecting snow in PA this week, so I'll be hat (and pin) ready. PS - you can buy replica ones at Victorian Trading Company. Not sure of the quality, but I see them in the flier they send.
