^^^how long do you boil the felt?? I have some that was as thick as they had and i’ll give it i test. I ain’t doing anything anyway.

I don't think you'd necessarily have to boil the felt Bowen. Maybe just a quick dip in a pot of very hot water to loosen it up. Let us know how you make out.

ah that makes more sense!! walmart is the last place Id by my felt! never trust walmart ahah
at this POint I whould try to wet felt my hood since ive been a wet felter for years.
Im just concerned it will not be as solid as industrially felted piece.

Goind to give that felt fabric a try

Awe, you all are sweet! I just had some alleged wool felt laying around and thought maybe that stuff would work. Plus i have a Grandbaby that needs a new hat! Ha ha

Men’s hats, felt and straw. One style at a time of course, but I’d like to diversify.

There are several threads here on tools. A few key-word searches should keep you busy for hours. Used tools are found on eBay and Etsy etc. Have you looked at the Hatters Supply House in Colorado?

Tim at Alley Kat vouches for them and that's good enough for me. One of these days I'm gonna build my own hat, I swear! Other budget priorities keep getting in the way of getting a block and flange set, but when I asked the hive mind about blocks, and Hatter's Supply House, Tim said that he'd been buying from them and they are top notch quality.

I have purchased 15 flanges and one block from Mark (Hatter's Supply House) and can vouch for the quality of work as well as his customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again from him.
