Hat Lining Knowlege Required

Alright, I've done more than a fair bit of looking, and I have found nothing on how to clean stains, (i.e. sweat stains or other such stains) from the silk lining of one's hat.

Would it be better to send it it to get it professionally cleaned?

Or is it possible to make it a do-it-yourself experience?

Or would the best solution of all would be not to go out for such brisk walks with the dog?

Hey bud... run a search on naphta you should get several hits.
Its real EASY to clean a hat [or liner] yourself, after you read up on it, give it a shot.

If the liner is not attached at the top of the hat, you can turn down the sweatband and gently pull the liner so it hangs down below the hat. Put a capful of Woolite in a shallow pan or bowl of cool water. Let the liner soak in the Woolite by balancing the hat on the rim of the pan. Don't get the sweatband wet. After 10-15 min, agitate the liner gently for a couple minutes. Dip a couple times in clean water to rinse. Set the hat, liner hanging down, on a towel to dry. When dry, tuck the liner back up and turn up the sweatband. And please keep walking the dog! How about posting a dog and hat photo?

Doesn't anyone make replacement liners? I've acquired some hats that are in good shape except for the liners and don't want to have to sent the hat off just to replace the liner.

The liners I've removed have a size marking to match the hat, so I guess they come in different sizes and I guess that makes sense.

A local tailor could make a copy using the one you have as a pattern. It's not difficult sewing, according to my wife.
