Ladies, I just started volunteering with one of the American Cancer Society shops. For those of you who don't know, the American Cancer Society has thrift shops which people donate unused, unwanted goods to, and the money raised helps cancer research. My job is to price all the antiques, vintage clothing and costume jewelry. Today I priced brand new in the box collectible Barbies. [huh]

I received this hat to price and sell. Would anyone know anything about the weave and construction, and pricing? It came in with a late 1920's hat I will also show.

I forgot to measure it, but it's small. Less than 22" hat size. If anyone wants it, let me know, and I will see if I can buy it for the posted price, and sell it to you, with your check going to the American Cancer Society so they get two sales. :)

Here is the second hat. I'd again appreciate information and pricing, though I personally have a good idea about this one.

Thanks for your knowledge and help!

Hello Betty,

I think the first hat is 50s (no earlier) and the second, first half of the 30s. I like the 30s one - nice colour. What size is it, do you know? I'd be interested.

Can't help you on the price, I'm afraid! Good luck.

Thanks for the input

I also thought the first hat looked like the 1950's and the second hat the late 1920's/early 1930's.

There are specific rules on when/how volunteers can purchase items from these thrift shops. I will see if I can find out more info and buy the hat.

Unfortunately, I didn't think that anyone outside the US would be interested in the hats, :eusa_doh: so I will just purchase the hat and you can refund me the price + postage if I get it, as postage is now quite steep here in the US. If you don't want it, I'm sure another lounger will want it.

oops

I didn't mean for this to be for sale, just trying to find out info for the thrift shop. I will try to be better next time.

You might try the eBay Vintage board for more help. I am not a hat expert, so I know nothing I'm afraid. Here's the link. There's esp. a lady named ChapeauNoir there who is very knowledgeable. As for pricing, you might check eBay completeds in the correct category to find out what the going rate is online, and judge from there.
