Hat Band Feathers

Does anyone else find the feathers jammed in hat bands annoying and out of place on a good fedora? I kind of like the purist look of the 20s-early 50s when a quality hat and hat band was all the plumage a man needed. I just had a hat delivered this afternoon. Less than a minute after unpacking it I yanked the plug of feathers out of the band. My wife was astounded. I think it looks better now. The cat is enjoying the feathers.

I also prefer my fedoras feather-free. It seems classier without feathers and I am typically not interested in that sporting look.

Some stingy brimmed sixties hats have brightly colored feathers that seem appropriate to the style. Personally, my face is too fat for a stingy brim.
