Good day,
I'm looking into purchasing a handgun for defense and perhaps concealed carry. The hardest part is going to be convincing my wife to go along with this idea. She has the all-too-common gut reaction that guns are horrible things which pose a greater liability than benefit.
So, my question relates to the best way to secure a small firearm (if I'm not carrying it) in such a way as to set her at ease, but also not make it completely worthless if needed on short notice. So storing the weapon and the ammunition in different levels or ends of the house is out.
We have a curious 3 year old. That is my wife's prime concern. I would obviously not store the weapon where he could easily access it in the first place, but nevertheless, I'm seeking advice.
Thank you!
(My apologies if this would have been better posted elsewhere.)
