Thanks for the input Guys, this was an Ebay score that hasn't arrived yet. When I get it I'll take closeups of the hardware.

Ok, here's a blowup of the only picture. Looks like Dinerman's 1949 or before Talon. According to him the stopper box changed mid-fifties.

Ok, Both andyfalzon and Baron Kurtz are correct. The zipper was replaced with ykk. Inside the chest pocket was the original Lightning slider/puller .the Flash pull is on the chest pocket. But what really chaps me is that someone cut the side strap/buckles off. You couldn't see this from the auction. Pics 7&8.

If you don't want to send it back for the missing side buckles (since it's already de-virginated) I recommend sending it to Johnson Leathers... they'll fix you up with a new set no problem!

The Canadian Lightning and Talon pullers are essentially identical (because of the Sundback connection), just with different markings, so you can use DMan's thread to date that Lightning puller to the postwar to early 50s. Was the whole zipper replaced or just the puller? Is the puller broken? Cheap postwar allows tended to fail/break/snap, especially in Australian Lightnings. Don't know about the Canadian ones.

The Flash fastener is fantastic.

The whole zipper was replaced, and they did a decent job. The lightning puller is intact and I can reinstall it, but as I mentioned earlier the side tabs were cut off and you can't tell from the pictures but the tanning process that was used on this HH is not the kind we covet.........too shiny!
