I have been holding onto a grey Playboy for more than 6 months deciding what to do with it. I've decided that the 2 1/8" brim is smaller than I like, and I'm selling it.
Here's a description:
This Playboy shows very little wear - the gold embossing in the sweatband is still bright and not worn. it probably has been mostly stored and worn very litte. Overall it's not a big hat with a wide brim, it's a moderate sized hat with a moderate brim. Definitely lightweight extremely flexible felt, suitable for a summer hat.
The last two Playboys to sell on Ebay went with boxes at $166 and $134 but they were in nicer condition. This hat has NO damage, holes or moth bites, but the felt is a bit rumpled from being stored slightly compressed, and it needs a good brushing. See the side photo and the interior photo. Steaming might remove the wavy lines, but I suggest having it blocked.
I'll say $100 plus $10 shipping in the US, actual cost shipping overseas. Payment via Paypal is preferred, but I'll accept cashier's check or money order. Please PM me if interested, since my Paypal address is different from the one used in this forum.
Here's a description:
- Stetson Playboy, size 7 1/4
- No lining - there's a seal on the inside of the crown (see pix)
- Stamped "Royal Stetson Playboy" and "Henry Segal, Cor. Main & Hammond Sts. Bangor, Maine" on the sweatband.
- Brim width is 2 1/8"
- Crown height as shown is just under 5" at the tallest.
- There is very subtle stitching about 1/8" in from the edge of the brim, all the way around.
