My grandmother pulled out her mom's mink stole and gave it to me. Now what do I do with it? Is it for formal evening events or can it go more casual than that? And what exactly do I do with all the minks that are attached together. What do I call it and how am I supposed to wear that thing? I have to admit that wearing animals that still look like animals is a little weird to me. [huh]

I too have my great-grandmother's mink stole.
I don't wear it often for it does weird me out a bit. But, I have worn it a few times with a dressy suit. It just adds a touch more of dressiness to the suit, makes it more glamourous, say, for taking a suit from a simple day suit to something more elegant for the evening.
I've also worn it with gowns for black tie events.
To me, a stole is a dressy item. I don't know how they used them back in the day, but for my use it seems better fitted for the evening.
