This jacket has Italian horsehide, which is full of natural grain, and has a lovely vintage aniline finish. We've only seen this kind of russet on the 23380s (never seal, so far), and both brown and olive thread were used.
This Italian horsehide gets wonderful surface aging as it's worn, with the high points of the leather fading to a lighter shade of russet, much as originals did. For the pattern, we've taken apart two original Rough Wear A-2s, and have handled many more, giving us a solid foundation of copying their design. Rough Wear A-2s are elegant and look great worn.
The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'7" to 5'9" with a chest of 39-40.5", and a weight of about 155-170 pounds.
