Socal Loungers,

I'm going to be in the OC (Anaheim, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach area) for three days and I don't know the area that well. Are there any vintage-y places that I should hit up? Also a nice place for dinner would be rather grand. Any suggestions?

The downtown center of Orange is a huge area of antique and vintage shops. I think the streets are Glassell and Main--quite near Chapman University. I never come home empty-handed...ever!

I've eaten at a lot of good restaurants in Newport, Balboa Island, Irvine, etc., but always with friends who live down there so I don't recall names and addresses. Someone closer to that area could probably be more specific as to exact names of some great ones. Have a great time!

Thanks. I wish I were going to Monrovia. There is a shop and a Argentinian restaurant right across the way from each other that I would LOVE to go back to.

Anyone else have any ideas? I was figuring alot of the socalers would have some suggestions.

Orange county is somewhat devoid of vintage culture I would say. Not that it doesnt have history, it does.

Its just also got way more then its fair share of super posh new restaurants etc....

I can't name specifics as I tend to flee the Orange Curtain every night right after work.

I work in Santa Ana, and like Miss Neecerie, I flee back to L.A. asap!

If you happen to drive by the Santa Ana/Irvine border, you can look across the fence at the dirigible hangars. The streets are Redhill, Barranca, Jamboree, and Edinger.
