Hola friends,

I'm looking to acquire a vintage suit, I have a reasonable idea of what I want...a 3 pc single breasted grey suit, I'm leaning towards tweed, and fitted in the 1920's style. I'm thinking something Harold Lloyd-ish, though with a longer leg.

I'm a 40S, with a 34 waist.

Anyway I don't really know anything about this whole scene. I've recently moved to Toronto, and there isn't really any men's vintage stores, and I haven't found what I'm looking for on eBay.

So where does one go to find these suits?

Thanks Johnny

Oh but there definitely ARE Vintage stores in T.O. I have seen a couple in my travels in the city, which means there's gotta be dozens upon dozens more. The only one I've ever had occasion to go into - due to time, company, etc. - was mainly targetted at your typical urban hipster that is more aiming for 60s-80s skinny tees with funky graphics, and a pair of nicely broken in pair of corduroys or jeans, but there's GOTTA be something for the 'Golden Era' crowd.

In a big city like Toronto you should be able to make a killing just dedicating a few hours to scouting Goodwill stores, and thrift stores like Value Village. Down here in little old London I pored over a rack of suits where atleast a quarter of them were single-breasted three-piece numbers, none of which were in my size by any stretch. None of them quite fit the bill in terms of the era you're after, but I'm in a city of under half a million people, and you've got, well, I dunno what the population of Toronto is. Has a mass exodus to escape the stench of the temporary dumps started yet? :p
