German eBay gets expensive

Well, in this case, it did. The seller had the clever idea to put some mid-1930s articles of clothing together and sell them as a "1936 Berlin Olympics" spectator's outfit. Pretty cool! I'll try to do the same one day with the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.

Anyway, the idea paid off, to the tune of $513.

Looks like Leni Riefenstahl's Olympia isn't out on DVD, but one can reserve a copy on Netflix for when (or if) it does come out.

That was the suit I had an option on-
It's good vintage but to my eye, it just lacks something...
It's '30s German for sure but hmmm... something I don't like about it.

I didn't like the back pleats ... looked a bit "wetsern" style. Not to my liking.

Also the cut of the jacket appeared a bit boxy?

That's a problem I had with the '30s German stuff that was imported into Chile. So many jackets and overcoats had "western/cowboy"-style yokes in the back!

I like the yoke thing- no problem with that.
Maybe I could just say that the suit has a bad aura...(?)

Something I don't like about it- yes- the jacket looks a bit weird in fit but that could just be Roland. The trouser legs are quite narrow too.

And then there's the damage...

The first time i saw it it smacked me in the face and screamed 60s revival!

The buttoned flap pockets and yoked back look just like ~75% of the belted stuff i see in thrift stores - and the self-fabric detailing around the inner breast pocket gives me this vibe too.

I don't doubt it's 30s. Just has a repro feel to it.
