Peschel in sämisch quality in a size 55. It just needed a little nudge to fit me. I left this hat behind in the store two times before, but this time around its number was up. Brim at a good 6cm and crown 10cm at the center dent (which it doesn't have, but you know what I mean). It actually wouldn't take a center dent, so I ended up with this crease. The hand of the chamois felt is outstanding. I needed another, because my other Peschel ended up in Copenhagen.

This is such an elegantly understated style. Nice find!

Nice find. It's a tirol style hat made by K&R Lembert Hutfabrik. They began life in the mid 1800s and are still going today.
Steve has some interesting stuff about them on his germanaustrianhats site. That site is a mind of information.

Super colour btw.

I love these hats! I got one for myself but can find VERY little about the maker. Anyone know of "Matterhorn"? These are the photos. View attachment 174064 View attachment 174065 View attachment 174066
Can't help with the name, Rosie. I'd guess just generic. Nice looking hat though and true to the tirol style. I particularly like the curves and curls on the ribbon. The pin looks interesting too and adds to the hats charm.

What does the sticker above the sweat band bow say, M? I can't make it out from the photo. Seems like numbers and letters. Is it a date or some kind of inventory number?

The sticker does not make a lot of sense. It says "WASTL 002 x 82" "MEL" and "507" "57" (which I believe is the size) I really like the had and it will post more photos of it when I get it. Is the pin significant? I liked it because it looks a bit feminine.

Rosie, my post about the sticker was to M Hatman's Lembert tirol hat not yours.

Yours is indeed a very feminine hat. It has a lovely shape and style. I have no idea right now if the pin has any significance, probably not. Looking forward to seeing more photos once it's in your possession.

Definitely 7 1/2 size, or should be if that's what the number refers to, Mark. What else could it be?
The price sign must be in dollars. Can't think of another currency sign like that. $8,50 would place that Lembert very vintage as the hat liner would suggest. Hope more knowledgeable folk can add to my two pennies worth.

Mark, Great find! It's a Miesbacher Trachtenhut style. In this time K. & R. Lembert had their own Velour felt production. My guess would be late 1950s early 1960s. Need to check if the liner is stitched in. Unfortunately I haven't updated my website with additional information I have. If you have any questions please ask.

K. & R. Lembert used separate cm size labels so this was most likely applied by an American seller.

Thanks Steve,

As the sweat is specifically marked "made in Germany" may I presume it was specifically made for the export market?
When it arrives I will try to photograph the blocking tags.....
The velour looks awesome....cannot wait to feel it in my hands....
Yes, tag looks like store tag with size and price.....just hope they marked it correct for the size!
I really like these hunting hats......I have accumulated a few now.......this is supposed to have a 2 1/4 brim too........we shall see.

Mark, The hat was sold in Wiesbaden, West Germany. K. & R. Lembert marked their hats "Made in Germany" (see link below) probably because they were targeting American and English tourists.

I think the Velour should be very nice. As I mentioned K. & R. Lembert had their own felt production in this time period. Unfortunately I haven't added that info to my website.
