Great straw trilby, Georg. You wear the short brims so well. So well in fact that I'd say your photos come from the 50s and 60s [emoji4]. I particularly like the hat liner logo. That ought to help date it for those in the know. I wouldn't be surprised if it's late 50s. Either way, it is one nice lid.

Best place for vintage German hats is German eBay ... www.ebay.de
Search for "Trachtenhut" and you will find a big variety of used hats suitable for an Oktoberfest visit; some of very good quality too.
Of course the demand and prices can be higher now ... one week before the Oktoberfest starts.

Ahh, never thought of that, thanks ! I’ve been looking on ebay, but a pretty limited supply. I’ll check it out.

HAPPY OKTOBERFEST !

I got lucky and found mine on ebay from a seller up in Seattle, which has a large German population.

We went to Mt Angel today. Again, only a few gents with fur felt hats. Most people had wool hats covered in pins. I didn't see any pins or feathers I would put on my hat.

We walked around a lot, had a bier sausage on a stick with some great brown, ground mustard. Then wandered over to Glockenspiel restaurant and had lunch there out of the sun. Sandra had cabbage rolls and I ate an enormous Reuben sandwich.

Again, A. Breiter Trachten Hut and Sandra in a similar style traveler made by Borsalino in a nice felt, but kind of a golden mustard color...

Here is an example for a current eBay offer for two used Bavarian style hats. One of them is a Habig.
Two "Gamsbart" (chamois / goat hair) decorations are included, which alone can be more expensive than a good hat.

Thank you very much for that. I’ve been looking as well, but it’s a little more limited in my small head 6-7/8. The good thing is though, better prices since less demand.....

Seems like most of them I see in that style of ‘hunting hats’ or ‘sporting hats’ are unlined, but I would really like a lined one. I have seen some lined, like one in your example, but nothing that caught my eye or my size yet. Is there any rhyme or reason to that ?

I have a Mayser sisal hat that I don’t know too much about (other than the shop where it was bought, as a present, the English hatter in Amsterdam ) I have already got in touch with the starter of this thread who is the resident authority on this matter. I’d like to show the hat anyway. Mayser inside.jpg Mayser Sisal.jpg

Very nice hat, looks like a little Western Flare to it.

A lovely charcoal grey Mayser (wegner colonel woops) Homburg. I suspect late 50s - great condition and finishing.
