G-1 Manufacture question

I have a current issue G-1 made by Excelled Sheepskin & Leather Coat Co. I have looked them up on the internet and only found that they have offices in NJ and IL. Does anyone have any additional info on them or their products? Such as how long they have been supplying the Navy/Marine Corps with jackets. I know the Navy had a problem with them about two years ago not being able to supply enough jackets for issue.

I saw some excelled jackets at american mistique. They carry the excelled shearling. I have a commercial excelled lambskin jacket. It's ok, nothing special. They manufacture in Il and there HQ is in NYC. That's all I know about them.

The barebones company website for them indicates they've been in business since 1927.

Hi Treetopflyer,

Excelled produced G-1s for the Navy only very recently. In fact, until about a month ago, I thought they still had the contract. Now I understand that Pharr Name Brand Apparell is the supplier. Orchard (Branded Leather), Cooper Sportswear and Brill Brothers are other recent G-1 suppliers.

Thanks all for the info. I did not know that they lost the Navy contract. I assumed they would eventually with all the problems the Navy has had with them.
