I need help!!! I believe you guys can help.
a couple years ago I saw a full length shearling bombers coat. full-lenght defined as calf length or longer. It has the wool liner with straps on the collar...i don't recall too many other details... it was not a cirrus (i don't think.) it seemed to be from a small company. I can not find one like it anywhere.
It was a cobination of and Irvan or B-3 or similar. I seem to recall it being called a British Airforce officers coat. the story i remember was about the gunners needing a full length coat as opposed to the waist length.
I am not looking for an historically accuarte coat.
I want this for my wife. She is incredibly toughg on clothes... by tough I mean things get dirty, dropped, stepped on rained on snowed on etc... I want to get her a shearling for a few reasons... opened she can wear it over anything starting at the forst cold weather all through winter. wiping off the car windows and getting road grime on it and getting it wet...bottom eline is it needs to be very durable, easily cleaned and able to last for freeking ever. It needs to be washable and able to stand up to rain and snow...
I am not sure if lambskin is the ticket. but heavy enough could be... would like dark brown. She is tall and fit 5-9 and 130. would want this to protect her from weather wearing dresses and skirts as well as pants... keep her warm (flip up collar) and belt etc....
Can anyone point me to the company that made this coat or can make one like it. The traditional full length shearlings are supple but look flimsy as well as appear pretty "weak" . and are not her style. She likes nice things but hates the pretentious look of a high style shearling... (pretentious is an opinion) she is from a dairy farm background and the rugged looks of a bomber style will appeal to her more than that of a dressy coat that she will only wear ocassionally due to wear issues...any suggestions, help, links or info on where to find a coat like this?
I wanted it for her for christmas but imagine I missed that window.. I have been waiting a couple weeks to get access to posting here... so am excited that I can and that you fine folks can help me out
