SOLD
For sale is a vintage double breasted three piece suit, size 38. Though it doesn't have union labels to help date it, based on the style I image it's from the 1930s or early 1940s.
Suit Jacket:
Chest: 20 1/4" (half measurement)
Shoulders: 18"
Length (from bottom of collar): 29 1/4"
Arm Length: 25"
Vest:
Chest: 17 3/4" (half measurement)
Front Length: 24"
Back Length: 19 3/4"
Pants:
Waist: 16" (half measurement)
Inseam: 31 1/4"
Rise: 14 1/2"
Truly a perfect example of the quality of vintage suits, being made with a nice and heavy wool that puts modern suits to shame.
As beautiful as this suit is, it does have several flaws that will need attention. First, the suit jacket is in good shape, except for the armhole lining. The liner stitching has come loose (an easy fix) but it is also torn (not as easy to fix). I'm sure though that a tailor could either repair the lining or replace it. There are also a couple of minor spots on the back of the jacket that should come out with dry cleaning.
The vest has several issues, first the strap in the back is gone except for a couple pieces on either side. So either a new strap would need to be added or the remains of the old strap removed. There are also a couple of small holes in the back of the vest, as well as some stain spots (though dry cleaning should take care of that). The vest is also a bit worn under the right armpit.
The pants are also in need of repair. First, there is a hole in the crotch of the pants, so you would probably need a reweaver to fix that. There are also a couple of stain spots on the pant leg that should come out with dry cleaning. The button on the pants is also broken, though there is a spare button in the jacket that could be used to replace it. There is also a slight shine to the seat of the pants. The pants have both belt loops and suspender buttons.
So as nice a suit as it is, it will take some work and investment to restore it to it's former glory.
