Up for sale is an IWC dress watch in "calatrava" style from the 1960s. Inside is the celebrated automatic calibre 853. This calibre was introduced in 1958 and was also used in the early Ingenieur models. It features the Pellaton winding system, 21 jewels and beats at 19800 A/h.
The watch measures 36mm in diameter (without crown), has 18mm lug width and is about 44mm lug-to-lug -- nice and large for vintage specs; perfect size for a dress watch today.

The beautifully shaped case is in decent shape and has not been overly polished, as it still has nice, sharp edges. Scuffs and superficial scratches throughout, consistent with its age and wear.
The original dial has a nice, warm patina with soft blemishes throughout the dial. The dial has never been refinished or otherwise tampered with. The indices are applied baton markers, while the minute markers are applied metal dots, a luxurious touch! The dial is signed, "International Watch Co, Schaffhausen, Automatic, Swiss".
This watch also still has its original crown with IWC fish logo.

The watch works, the movement actually is still fairly accurate (loses approx 20 seconds per day), but a service (at least cleaning/oiling) is strongly recommended if the watch will be worn regularly.
36 mm diameter (not including crown)
44mm lug to lug
18mm lug width
Asking €975 via PayPal
Shipped worldwide (though EU/UK preferred)
Thanks for watching!
