I won this on ebay and it doesn't fit me. My loss, your gain! These are the original seller's pictures; they're excellent, and much better than I can do without a mannequin. Except for the shot with the collar flipped up. It's supposed to be down, of course!
I'm pretty sure this is late 1930s. The slim-fitting sleeves, fastening with buttons, is a very 30s thing. It appears to be very skillfully hand-knitted; the knit is less stretchy than most machine-knit dresses I have.
This dress is in fantastic condition. It certainly hasn't been worn much, if at all!
The buttons are darling. They're dark brown, either hard plastic or enameled metal, with metal shanks. I don't have them in front of me, but I think they're like cone shapes with a swirled design, really cute!
Measurements:
Bust: 37-40" (seller's measurement - fit fine on me)
Waist: 26-29" max (verified - a little hard getting it over my shoulders)
Hip: 31-40" (This is probably a max, too; it was too snug on me.)
Back waist: 15" (MY measurement)
Length: 41-41.5" (also my measurement)
Shoulders and sleeves: These are raglan sleeves, so they're hard to measure. The shoulders and sleeves fit me just fine, though. I've got average shoulders and average to long arms, so they should work fine for most people.
* This is high-waisted on me. I'm 5'9" but short-waisted for my height so things usually work; but not on this one. It looks normal on the mannequin, so it could very well be just me.
* The skirt is snug. I'm 34-27-38 (a rather wide and flabby 38) and the skirt was just too snug to look good. A cuter shape than mine would probably give a very different effect. I'm not a pencil skirt gal!
Price: I'm asking $70, or make me an offer. I paid almost $90 w/o shipping, so this is a deal! It's making me really sad, just sitting around while I can't wear it, and the weather and season outside is just perfect. Shipping is just actual cost from me to you.
