This beautiful piece of leather outerwear is the top model from renowned UK leather flight jacket manufacturer Eastman Leather Clothing.
An amazingly accurate reproduction of the iconic A-2 flight jacket as issued to thousands of US Army Air Corps crewmembers during World War II, this particular model represents the famous Rough Wear Clothing Company contract model commonly referred to by the last segment of the contract number itself: 27752.
What makes this trim-fitting model stand out, apart from the premium leather cutting and stitching, is the quality of the hide: a rich, varied, cigar-like brown that mimics the broken-grain character found on originals and will only get more beautiful as it ages and the patina develops.
Some other features:
- replica M-52 Talon zipper, beautifully constructed for smooth use
- 100% premium 3-ply cotton thread in olive drab period specific colour
- only 7 pieces of leather, with outstanding one piece leather back
- Rayon labels - neck, left hand pockets and period specific size label in right hand pocket
- 100% wool tubular knit cuffs and waistband
- storm flap
- ball and stud press collar and pockets
- 100% cotton lining with replica AN stamp
- made by hand in the UK
It is a size 40L, so will suit someone 5'11 or taller. For reference sake, I’m just over 6' tall and weigh 12 stone, and the jacket fits me perfectly (better than any other reproduction A-2 I have owned or tried from other quality manufacturers).
The jacket's measurements are as follows:
- pit-to-pit: 22”
- sleeves: 25” from shoulder seam to end of the cuff
- back width (shoulder to shoulder—straight across): 18”
- back length (base of the collar to bottom of waist knit): 26”
About a year old and infrequently worn, the jacket is just beginning to develop some lovely patina. Originally £850 from Son of a Stag in London. See original Eastman listing.
Free of smoke or any other smells. Worn infrequently for about a year the only imperfection is a slight run in one of the sleeve knits (see pic) that is unnoticeable unless close up and has no effect on integrity or performance of wonderful jacket.
