I have been collecting aviation and law enforcement leather jackets since I was a teenager in the 1960s. Now that I have turned 70 my thoughts are directed to “downsizing” and this is the first of many neat items that need to go to new owners.
This is a very nice but non military issue goatskin USAAC/USAF A-2 leather jacket made and sold by L L Bean here in the USA in the 1970s. This one has a one-piece back amd the “handwarmer” pockets. Newer “offshore” made versions have three piece backs. Size is US 42. However measurements are always more meaningful.
Pit to pit 24” 61cm
Shoulders 19” 49cm
Sleeve length 25” 64cm
Collar seam to bottom of waistband 24” 61cm
The two knit cuffs and the waistband are very nice with no holes or pilling.
Zipper works smoothly.
Leather is nice and supple.
Collar and pocket snaps ok.
Caveats...it is not perfect!
Needs cleaning and application of leather conditioner like Lexol.
Small piece of inner liner is missing (see photo).
