As some of you know from my posts in the Suits section, I'm seriously addicted to Harris Tweeds. I'm fascinated by the amazing range of patterns and the subtle blend of colors in the individual weavers' patterns. Alas, those hundreds (or even thousands) of unique weave patterns are a thing of the past. In an effort to modernize and simplify marketing, the Harris Tweed Authority has decided to limit the weavers to producing only a half-dozen or so of the most popular patterns.

When I read that sad news a couple of years ago, it occurred to me that those wonderful vintage tweed patterns would likely become desirable and valuable. So I began collecting Harris Tweed jackets with the intent of creating a web-based business dealing in vintage Harris Tweed Jackets. I acquired the domain name, 'VintageTweeds.com' and set up an Etsy account with the name 'VintageTweeds'.

Recently, however, I've come to realize that I have too many creative projects on my plate and not enough time and energy to pursue them all, so…

I've decided to abandon the project and sell my collection of Harris Tweed jackets along with the domain name and the Etsy account - a ready to go home-based online business for someone with the time and energy to make it a reality.

The jackets are all in very good to like-new condition with no moth holes or other damage. The sizes range from 38 - 46, with the majority in sizes 40-42. I'm not sure of the exact number - I had 75 at last count and I've acquired several more since then. Nearly all are Harris Tweeds but there are a half-dozen or so Donegal or other handwoven tweeds.

I'm asking $2000 for everything - the jackets, the domain name and the Etsy account, but I'll consider reasonable offers/trades. 10% discount for payment in gold or silver at spot.

It's a pity I don't have the time for such a venture, and that you're not selling them individually as they're my size, but this is a great opportunity for someone willing to take on the work!

Bumping it up with a close look at the amazing range of colors that are woven into even the most ordinary Harris Tweeds.

Most people (certainly not the infinitely knowledgeable members of The Lounge), when they think of Harris Tweed, think of something vaguely brown or grey and herringbonish. There's a lot more to it than that. Even those ubiquitous herringbones have a subtle blend of colored yarns woven into the mix.

At $26.666666 per coat, this seems like a potentially lucrative investment for someone with a good marketing sense about them. Mattface, perhaps?
