hi girls!

Im a new member an have been looking through some of the threads and must say how beautiful all your hair looks!
Ive been trying to get ideas for styles to try for myself but cant seem to find any for fringes. i have a full fringe down to my eyebrows does anyone know of any styles that will work or how to incorporate my fringe in with a style or even hide it?

thanks!

There are lots of things you can do with fringes! Daniella Turudich's 1940s hairstyles book shows drawings of fringes being worn straight with many styles. You can also do a Betty Grable type fringe by pincurling that hair and then fluffing it with your fingers:

I have eyebrow-length fringe and here are some things I've done with it.

Fringe was pincurled and then brushed to the side into a big curl:

Fringe was pincurled and brushed into a backwards facing curl resembling a roll:

I don't have any pictures of this one, but sometimes I will pincurl my fringe and then brush it into 3 semi-tight curls over my forehead.

they're some really good ideas, i especially like the second one it looks really good on you!
did you just used rollers for that?

No, I use pincurls. Rollers do not give a tight enough curl for me and it's too hard to get them in the short hair. It's much easier to use pincurls. What I want my fringe to do will determine how I set the curls. In the first photo of myself, the curls were set facing to the left side of my face (the left side as you see it) and standing upright. In the second photo, the curls were set upright facing away from my face. When I pincurl my fringe, I always set the curls standing up, instead of flat against my head, since that leaves them with more body! Usually I will split my fringe in half horizontally (into two horizontal rows) and set the row closest to my face in 3 curls and the top row in 2 curls.

One thing I forgot to add is that fringe is really great for 20s styles too:

thanks!

Well you can probably use small rollers like sponge rollers. I'm sure that would work.

As for pincurls, there is a long thread about them here with lots of information and links. http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=4254

Also check the sticky in this forum - http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=16963 - for lots of photos (even a couple with fringe) and TONS of links to various hairstyle sites.
