French Hats and makers.

BellyTank

I'll Lock Up
OK, we have a thread for German/Austrian hats and makers,
so let's have one for all those vintage Chapeau and information about the makers.
I know there's more than a few on the Lounge who have and appreciate the French hats.
We also have French and European members here, who should be able to enlighten us somewhat.

I'll add mine when able but let's make a start.
Let's see those Mossants and Flechets.

Lets go!

I could be wrong but I dont think there are any hat manufacturers left in France. There are a few companies such as Crambes that distribute hats using the Flechet label but that is about it.

Recently acquired from ebay.fr Nice soft moldable felt. Unfortunately a recovering victim of a moth banquet but looks OK.

MOSSANT HAT AVAILABLE:
Also, for you big-headed guys, I sold a Dobbs Hat to a man in France who has offered me a couple of hats, most notably a gorgeous Mossant Med. Grey Satin Hare(semi-furry) but it is a 61 cm. If someone is interested PM me and I can email pic's and refer you to him. Hope that is not against any rules.
Perhaps I need to clarify, the hat above is not the one available although the color is similar.

Old French hat on Ebay

Very dirty, moth-eaten hat, but cleaned up nicely. I don't know anything about French hats, but Lefty said back-bow was in use in 20's, then again in '50s.

Removed oil-skin plasticey strip behind the sweatband, and oil-skin cover over the liner-label (both very nasty). Hat is more brown than pics:

I dont think that the hat was made in France. It looks to be made in the USA from the 1950's. I vagely remember seeing that imprint on some hats that were on Ebay a while back.

Flechet Thin Ribbon

Flechet Thin Ribbon in never worn / mint condition. The felt on this one is really something. Super pliable and very soft. Great summer felt hat.
