Dear Loungers
I am offering my Good Wear Doniger here first before putting it on EBay.
John Chapman of Good Wear Leather (Seattle) produces some of the very highest quality reproduction A-2 jackets and consequently the waiting list runs into several months.
Much has already been posted about the Doniger contract on VLJF, including some excellent images of original jackets, but for those not familiar with the pattern, it is a well fitting and forgiving one (comfortable armholes, longer in the front, without being boxy) in goatskin with mid brown knits and mustard yellow lining. Altogether this is a more relaxed silhouette without losing the smart shirt-like profile.
This has been my daily wearer (to and fro at work and casually) for one and a half years in all but the worst weather and it has even made several flights to the USA and Germany (albeit in the comfort of a pressurised cabin ). This example has a NOS triple-marked Talon zip which works perfectly and has no separation at the male end.
I'll be sorry to see this beautiful jacket go as I have become really attached to it as it has worn in, but I have just purchased an original HH Perry and won't do justice to both. The Doni is in lovely, mildly worn condition, no tears/holes to knits, highlights on leather seams and some burnished areas through daily wear as shown in the following images.
