During the holidays we traveled to Upstate New York to visit my wife's family, as we always do. Chatham is a small town south of Albany in Columbia County. As we were driving along one of the rural routes between Chatham and the even smaller burgh of Austerlitz, we came across THIS, litterally in the middle of nowhere!

Now, this wasn't there the year before and I have no idea what the intentions for the place are. But I thought you might enjoy it!

I've never seen anything about this place. I think it's time for me to start researching.

Okay, I just found it.
It is the Durham Diner in Austerlitz, NY, a diner built in the early 1920's by the Jerry O'Mahony company. It's about 80% intact and is currently under restoration.
that's about all I could find.

It surprised the heck out of me when I saw it. It's, really, in the middle of cow land USA. I hope it opens, though. I LOVE the area and folks that live there and there's nothing more pleasing than a good diner in the country. I'll check the status of it the next we head that way and let you know.

I can almost smell the biscuits and gravy...mmmmmm....
