@dudewuttheheck great write up and I just received my black horsebutt engineers from onderhouds so it's great timing. I'll try to post photos tomorrow.

Benzein lace up boots in Maryam T Moro (brown with some gray tones) horse butt. A little similar to my Truman Java Horse butt in color but lighter in tone. This feels like it doesn't have a finish and has a suede like characteristic to it when you brush it from side-to-side. This is my first half sole Boots and I quite like them now.

And to keep the thread relevant, matched with my red Tenjin for contrast :)

those look great, the red/black combo is so nice and it pairs well with so many of your red jackets. Careful not to drop alcohol sanitizer on them lol it will strip the color like with what happened to my Cigar brown cloe horse butt Chelsea. How do you rate Benzein compared to your Other boots?

To be perfectly honest, I don't have nearly as much experience with boots as with jackets so I do not trust myself to comment lol
Let's just say that I am happy with these, the shade of burgundy was not what I was expecting, it is lighter. But it works perfectly well, and they feel comfortable, although I haven't tried walking in them for long yet.

I need to thank you for all the cool pics and impressions you posted @Jin431, they are very convincing :)

I can already see that it will be a regularly used pair as it is so easy to slip on and off.

Thanks for the warning, I noticed that is all too easy to drop the sanitiser on your cloth or shoes, the dye does look like it will fade quickly

@Jin431 Congrats! Fantastic Engineers and I really love this shape....I sold the only Engineers I ever had but when looking at yours I start thinking again....
It's different but the shaft is not really noticeable under jeans so it's not so conscious alarming to wear. I'll post better photos to get you really thinking haha I just placed an order for Motor dress engineer hand dyed brown horse butt boots too as they are currently taking orders for this years batch

These look fantastic. Well done, Jin!
Thank you, it's very easy on the eyes and I'm quite happy with them because no laces to tie lol

That prof barnets side zip engineer boots is interesting. Hope that pans out well.

Looks great! My FPs are still in quarantine and haven't shipped yet. It's truly an exercise in patience.
Thanks man, these are so easy to wear too and i got perfect sizing as there's very little tiny bit heel slip

Uh oh so my monkey boots will have that same issue too that's too bad but oh well nothing Peng can do about that

That's leather color is so you though haha you picked the perfect option for sure! I think maybe you were looking for a deeper burgundy? I will have an aubergine horse butt service boots from Truman and I think you will like those too.

They are well made and the last is easy to walk with. I used mine for hiking for 8 miles a couple of weeks ago and didn't have any issues.

I'm glad you like them. It's more rugged than most Chelsea but still refined. The leather has no finish so it should show patina/wear quicker but yes it's a little fragile on alcohol so watch out lol

*fyi they will soon have shinki shrunken horse butt in black/reddish brown/brown. I think those will look exceptional

Follow up on the Onderhoud Engineers Maryam black horse butt

Not looking for as much as expecting the colour to be deeper from the pictures I had seen. But yes, I am very happy with this shade, it is actually more unique :)

I am thinking another pair in a different combination with cuban heels would be fun! Just need to figure out what I want

The color varies a lot like in jackets so what you can do next time you order is specify what you want dark/light shade and then request for them to darken it when they are finishing the boots.

Benzein (in my opinion) makes their best boots out of the Chelsea last they use, they also use it in a side zip boot/lace up/derby.

They are so comfy too, you will like wearing them. While we're at it, how do you size the motor dress engineer boots? Rizky gave me a size 7 on his last. Motor is recommending a 7.5D for me.
I just went for the same size as I did with the lace up boots - 9h which is 9.5. I am a 10.5 on a Brannock so that is one size down from Brannock.

Ahh got it so a full size down. @JCSD and I have an almost similar boot size. He has a size 7 in the lace up boot (model #1011) that fits well, do you recommend I go for the same size?

I decided to take a chance on these vintage Mason western boots on eBay, since I didn’t have any black boots.

Made in the US and extra wide in my size. Mason were a safety/work boot brand that would sell boots out of a van visiting local garages and factories. These look to have a slightly pointed, but not full-on cowboy, toe with no top stitching in a thick hide with a definite Cuban heel.

EDIT: uh-oh. Now I have no excuse not to buy a black leather jacket!
