Flat cap/scally

I am thinking a scally/flat cap from Boston Scally Company is something I might wear. I am thinking of this as a one-off, so versatility is important.

Lighter grey hat : https://www.bostonscally.com/products/the-peaky-boston-scally-cap-iron-gravel

darker grey: https://www.bostonscally.com/collec...ts/the-peaky-boston-scally-cap-charcoal-slate

grey herringbone: https://www.bostonscally.com/collections/the-peaky/products/shamrock-peaky-boston-scally-cap

Those are all 8 panel hats

This one is a six panel hat and more of a truer, solid charcoal : https://www.bostonscally.com/collections/all/products/the-scrapper-charcoal

Here is a photo of the 6 and eight panel . 8 panel, then a traditional flat cap, and then the 6 panel (more narrow I think)

I have more than a few Boston Scally caps, including the hats in your "Lighter grey hat" link, and "grey herringbone" link, except in the second link my hat doesn't have the green button on top; on mine it's covered in the same herringbone as the cap. I rather like Boston Scally's caps, though I think their 6-panel cap doesn't look quite right on my head. Also, they're constructed to hold the shapes you see in the photo you posted; the crown on the 8-panel, for example, cannot be reshaped or moved from side-to-side or front-to-back as you can on most caps of that type. Also, they're made in the PRC--that's the People's Republic of China--and their quality control seems a bit lacking. The first cap I got was a gray single panel Herringbone, and the top panel was sewn in crooked. I made attempts to contact them, but they didn't respond to any of my e-mails. Other than that, they're nice caps good for casual wear.

Might I suggest you look into Sterkowski caps. They've got a similar style. Based upon my experience, they're much better quality than Boston Scally. Sterkowski sells direct as well as through Amazon and eBay

I second this recommendation. Sterkowski makes most of their caps in the same way flat caps were made during The Golden Era, so they have the "look" most of us appreciate.
