For those of you who are hatters.

I am going to have some flanges made. They will be solid poplar, 1.5 inchea thick, flat flanges able to handle up to a 5 inch brim. I am drawing creating patterns for sizes 6 3/4 to 8 1/4. Thats a matched set of 14 flanges. They will be $75 per flange. So that would be $1050 per set. It may get a little lower than that if I get enough people in on the deal. If any one is interested let me know.

I am going to start talking to another company about other flanges, and possibly blocks, soon. So these may be the first of many.

Jimmy , how can you have one set of flanges ? Each brim size needs a different size flange .
If you have come up with something new , let me know .:cool2:

What I am currrently having made is a flat flange, made of solid poplar, like the old flanges. About 1 1/2 inches thick, will have the spring groove around the outside. I am going to have sets made based on both a regular oval block, and a long oval block, possibly. I was hoping just to order a number of sets of one or the other, or both, for those interested the more people that order, the lower the cost will be. If I only have one or two sets other than mine ordered it will be about $1000 dollars per set, that is per regular oval set or per long oval set. These will I am trying to sorce something that is the same quality of the old flanges we use.

My main western flanges are 23's, 4 3/8 inches wide. I may have found another company that can replicate these flanges, as I have sizes 6 7/8 through 7 1/2 and want to expand my size range. If this does happen I will offer them also, and other shaped flanges, later on. I am going to approach the same company about blocks. the main Blocks I use are a 51 and 52 and again want to expand my sizes.

I need these things, in manufacuting there is a set up cost, this is actually the expensive part of have something like blocks and flanges made, not the cost of the peices themselves. My family runs a precision metal shop, building computer enclosures and electronics components, so I am used to dealing with todays production methods. The more peices I order at once, the cheaper the price per piece because the setup cost is spred out over the number of pieces.

If I were to just order my set it would cost about 1500 dollars, But I already have one other hatter in not counting those here, and if I get the two more who have steped up here that takes it down ab out 1000. If I get a few morw in it may go down to $850.
