I found this beauty at the local consignment store. I think it qualifies as a find, because it was priced just under $200. It was one of those “no, it can’t be” moments when I saw it hung on the wall just after walking into the shop. When I verified it really was Langlitz, I thought, it is not going to fit me. I tried it on and it fit like it was made for me. Because fate had smiled at me, I knew I wasn’t leaving without buying it. At first, I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t a Columbia or black. The more I have worn it, the more I like the Cascade (do I have that right?) design and the dark brown (almost black) color. View attachment 309064 View attachment 309065
I could use some help with the zippers, though. The Talon bell zippers on the sleeves and pockets look original.

However, I am not so sure about the Lenzio main zipper.

is it original or a replacement?

That's a really cool jacket!
Not a cascade i think, it looks like a hybrid Columbia with a cascade collar.
Never seen one before, i wonder if it's a custom order?

That is a good spot. I’ve got one of these from new in the reddish tan horsehide, it’s a really beautiful jacket, with brass Riri zippers (number 10 on the main zip, no wussy zips here). Vanson don’t do horsehide any more (except if you provide your own to them, at considerable further expense). This one’s even my size, I had to hide my wallet even though I already own this jacket in another colour and they (thankfully!) don’t ship to me... the pictures are not great and really don’t do this jacket justice. It’s a short boxy fitting jacket, so maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a really nice casual jacket, with solid characterful horsehide - mine still stands up on its own after 17 years and plenty of wear and I’ve had lots of random compliments on it over the years.

The horsehide ones are super rare and were expensive even back when they made them. List for my own, new (in 2004!) was $695 (and I had to ship/import it to UK on top of that). This is BIN @ $350. To put that in context that’s over $100 below the - 2004 - dealer price from Vanson! And they no longer exist... someone should be smart and buy this... (and save me from further temptation...). OK maybe a few more pics/a quick message exchange to check the condition wouldn’t hurt. But on the face of it, it’s an absolute steal...

Carlos is right I think.

It a great score! At that price I wouldn’t care what Langlitz model it is, especially as it apparently very serendipitously fitted the lucky finder perfectly - what’s the chances? I think we all dream of stumbling over a score like this... But for what it’s worth, the jacket looks quite similar to a (much older - green label) Langlitz featured in my very recently acquired vintage jacket book.

That jacket is described in the book as a “Cossack Columbia.” So I think it’s a Columbia base with a different collar like the one on the cascade...

Langlitz offers the Columbia with the cossack collar and the Cascade with a dress collar as options
