Found this today at a thrift store, definitely vintage. The leather is suede and very fine.
Question is, how old? 1930s? 1950s?

I thought it was '70s at first but not anymore.

This first photo shows the true color.

Two small pleats along the top of the half belt.

Jacket is fully lined with this silvery rayon. Not shown is the center gusset in the lining.

Nice. Not sure of age. Lovely old label (Reg. US Pat Off.; i used to think that was a pretty good pre-middle-50s dating tool) Liner satin, maybe 40s? It doesn't strike me as 30s, but that's just gut feeling.

Seems to fit you pretty well, longshanks.

FWIW, i have a 40s goatskin motorcycle jacket with exactly that type of button.

Baron, I think you're right. I just found a matching suede 3-button sportscoat (sans belted back) in my Fall/Winter 1944-'45 copy of Sears, Roebucks catalog.

And an online search yields the same tag in other '40s jackets.

My first vintage leather jacket (it does fit my lanky self pretty well. A miracle!)
Cheers!

Nice jacket - makes me think (in the best possible sense) "Western wear."

No doubt about the western comment. I don't know what it is, but there are some western vibes to it. Color maybe?
Forgot to say, there are eyelets under the armpits. Neat little feature.

Now the question is: what to wear with it?

Also, I'll see if I can't get a scan of the Sears, Roebucks catalog image of that similar jacket.

Thanks guys! I wore it today with a green flannel button-down shirt, jeans, a Stratoliner fedora and vintage sunglasses. No pics, unfortunately.

But here's the catalog image I mentioned earlier (Sears, Roebucks Fall/Winer '44-'45).

Nice jacket!

I have seen a similar true half belt jacket with the half belt still attached - they are, of course, in two halves, each end with a button hole to fit the two buttons. The example I saw want for big money! It was 1940s, although I have a Rich Sher true half-belt leather jacket (but zipped) from the 1950s.
