I have a a hat that came with some feathers that unfortunatly are very thin and are breaking, so i was wondering if anyone knew where the best place is to buy feathers, or ostrich feathers (the fluffy sort?) in unusual colours? The ones in there before were blue and red (its a navy hat), so i would be looking for either those colours or a nice musturd/yellowy-gold ones.

Any help will be great!!:D

I would take a good look at the local crafts store. They generally have a range of colors, especially basics such as red and blue. If they don't, find a new crafts store! lol

I was joking with my sister I was going to raise fancier birds (after I saw a thing on peafowl for sale) so that I could get a broader range of feather hues.:D

Craft stores, yeah. Also try a sporting goods place like Gander Mountain or Cabela's. They carry all sorts of feathers for fisherman that like to tie their own flies.
I have some peacock feathers if you're interested.
(Don't go bird hunting! lol )

Feather (UK)

Hi Maisie
Here is a link to a craft suppliers http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/ ( search for feathers) website they sell retail and are very fast in delivery I have checked and they have feather flowers, they do a lot of wholsale so you local craft shop could order from them also but that might cost you more , But you can go Direct,
If you still cannot find the one you want I know of a milliner that will dye feathers indiviually , I not used them personally but they are in my town and pass them most weeks so I could pop in and find out some details detail like contact name, address and phone number for you. (i have also sent PM)
Hope that helps

Don't raise peafowl whatever you do, they live wild here in town (luckily not on my block). They scream like babies in the middle of the night, defecate everywhere and destroy gardens and damage roofs. They are very pretty though.

Are there no millinery supply stores in your area? I know there is one in Los Angeles (although I admit I haven't been there in 10 years, I think it is still there though).

Tourbillion, I figured that I'd keep them fenced in. Maybe not. As one of my friends pointed out "who wants a bird that can scream like a woman being murdered with an axe?!"

*starts grinning madly as she knows just where Tourbillion lives now*

Unless there are two suburbs that have peafowl running about randomly....that is...

Actually the peafowl (and yours truly) have begun to spread from RPV into San Pedro.

I left RPV because I couldn't live with my Dad forever and couldn't afford a multi-million dollar estate.

I guess the peafowl like it in the South Shores section of San Pedro, a few of them live there. Actually, I can't afford South Shores either. The peafowl, not being natives to either city are technically squatters, although some people in SP have built "nests" for them.

I guess that is because they are tired of them landing on their roofs and balconies (with a loud thud) at all hours of the night.

I suppose if you look around in the ravines that there are lots of nice feathers about. The birds are really hard to catch, those suckers run fast.

I always trips me out to see one running around when I am in those neighborhoods, it's not like they are dogs or anything, but they are as big as a good sized dog.

p.s. We have wild parrots in San Pedro too, they have nice bright feathers.

Tourbillion, the millinery supply store in L.A. is alive and well. I just was there 2 weeks ago and bought some things to repair and refresh a few hats. Everything in it looks old and musty and dusty! But, it did have hat netting in the colors I needed so I can't complain! It had BOXES and BOXES of feathers of every type, color and description. However, it does not have a website, sadly...

Thanks for all the links and suggestions i don't know about getting them off the internet or seeing if I can find any places that sell them near me?
Etienne, that store sounds great, but a little to far for me! I wish I could find something similar a little bit closer!
