Favourite old wives' suit tale?

So, what's yer favourite old wives' tale regarding suits? (and by old wives' tale i mean the kind of - on the surface credible, but upon reflection without basis - etiquette or style "advice" promulgated by those with little or no credibility for putting forward their opinions, or those with credibility who often say just crazy, indefensible things (E. Post springs to mind)).

This came to mind because some idiotic old lady in the library castigated me for wearing white shoes a few weeks ago: "You know you shouldn't be wearing those yet?", she says. I challenged her upon her statement (it was 30 celcius that day). Her defense? "Well, you just shouldn't". I walked away scoffing.

My favourite is the one that says short men shouldn't wear double breasted suits. Utterly ludicrous.

I really do wish that all clothing manufacturers would just come out and say what microfiber and all of their "stain-defending fabrics" really are.

You know what they say, "polyester by another other name still sucks." Well, I say it. :p
