Fashion show hats

This was in last weekend's paper. Here's a fashion show photo featuring what appears to be a man's hat (there's no mistaking the inspiration here) on a model, but for a fashion-show hat, it's actually pretty nice looking.

And the related article.

The hat appears to have a taller ribbon than your typical modern fedora, and the crown-to-brim proportions are pleasing to the eye. I wonder what make of hat this is?

Interesting.

"...Mexico for inspiration", huh? More like Steven Spielberg for inspiration on that one.

Fashion design is an art form that fascinates me. When I see a painting or a film, I look at them with a critical eye, knowing much about how that type of work is achieved. When I look at fashion, I have no idea how they do it, so I just enjoy it for the sometimes beauty and sometimes idiocy of it all.

This line looks pretty good and the hat girl wears it well.

That is a very nice-looking hat. I imagine you'd have to have your people contact the designer's people to determine it's origin. She wears it well.

I just figured this one out. They got the captions mixed up, as a few photos down is the correct one for the Ralph Lauren one. RL's known around these parts as having an eye for vintage style, so it's not too surprising to see an older style of hat on a model. I was just surprised to see one with that wide of brim and ribbon. Not stingy at all, but it's probably more to do with the Indy inspiration than anything else, I'm afraid.
