Hey all, this might be a long shot but would anyone here happen to know what this type of frame trim rubbery tube thing common in old spectacles is called and it could be purchased anywhere online? So im only looking for the material itself that I could potentially attach to frames myself. Such a hard thing to try and find through google.

It's an interesting question. I've never seen any such thing on sale - to be honest, I don't even know if opticians can get hold of it: I suspect in today's world, it'll have been replaced with some sort of plastic compound that is in effect disposable, and can't be replaced. (I know it frustrates me endlessly that it's now much cheaper to buy a complete new set of frames on the high street than to have glasses relensed in the same place.... even when I bought them there in the first place).

Might be worth asking some opticians, or maybe some of the places that specialise in reconditioning original frames?

Yeah I already emailed a couple opticians in hopes they have some insight.

It sure seems like this sort of material has simply been deemed needles in todays consuming standards in favour of simply getting a new pair of frames.

I'm lucky that theres a local optician here who still offers new lenses to your old frames service at a good price and quality.

I do wonder where frame makers that still offer this style of frames source their material from tho.

I know there are some high end/vintage eyeglass shops in Los Angeles, and I would assume in New York, Paris, London, and Milan. Maybe even in Miami Beach. Anywhere where fashion is significant in the economy. I used to have a name for a Los Angeles shop, but I cannot find it in my bookmarks. I know I just googled vintage eyeglasses though. I wear older frames myself, based on a vintage design. I've had to repair them numerous times, like new nose pads, new temples, etc. Ten years ago, I could walk into a shop, and they would have the hardware. It's not like that anymore. I have to source the parts myself, and the prices are ridiculous. I've never seen that tubing for sale by itself. I've ran into lots of other oddities in my searches, but never that tubing. Best of luck.

I did contact Savile Row about this and they quoted me 90€ for 1 meter roll of this material. 90 euros for a roll of plastic. I guess its expected from a high end brand like them.
