A lot of folks knock those who don't wear real vintage, it seems. However, they don't realize that if you're bigger than the average person was then, it's hard to find vintage that fits you. Being a larger guy, I have very little in the way of true vintage clothes, suits, and hats.

I'm lucky there, I had two grand uncles who were real dandies, and I can go right into all the clothes they left behind and luckily I was the only one interested in having them too. Dinerjackets, tails, suits, hats, sports wear, you name it all from the thirties, forties and fifties

You know... y'all think you're funny, but I really have issues with my pictures. It seriously took a lot out of me to post on the what are you wearing thread, so be nice :pout:

I have a horrible time taking pictures. When I think I look okay, I see the photo and I'm horrified how I look in it. lol! If I can help it, I will retake the picture until I'm semi happy with it. I feel like an ugly duckling. :( That's why David Manners is my avatar photo. He's much better looking than me. lol

I don't think I have ever once come across this, but I hear about it all the time. I own few vintage pieces, especially to wear - I wear a lot of repro and vintage-inspired instead, so if anyone is thinking I'm "not vintage enough," I must not have noticed.

It must be my area. Last night I found an article about a person that went to the Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica like I did (except that I went last Sunday and this article was back in February) and they described the exact same thing I experienced. Gee.... :(

I understand, Deco-Doll. I take picture after picture & right now I'm not exactly feeling artsy enough to even try. LOL! Definitely don't like pictures of meself. ;)

I keep telling myself that I am going to create this nice artsy vintage inspired photo of myself and use that as my avatar, but I never do. I'm either too lazy or just camera shy. :)

I was just thinking about how some of us here probably reminds one of different family member types so I came up with my version of the "FL Family Album."

AtomicEraTom and Rue -- The older brother or sister who raised all the other siblings.
C-dot -- The bright younger sister who's the family Favorite.
LoveMyHats2 -- The fun-loving uncle who belongs to a lodge. He always visits when the Shriners Convention is in town.

To be continued...

Yes, I am curious as to where I fit in this family. :D

I know this is a bit random, so I apologize in advance for this. Tom felt like it would be a nice thing to mention somewhere here on the Lounge and this was the only place I think of where I could post it.

It's a bit old news, but last Tuesday (not yesterday, the one before that), I saw some filming happening in Downtown Arcadia in front of a place called Rod's Grill. I saw some people in period clothing walking around outside. I nearly crashed my car after I saw them because I was so excited to see them. lol The restaurant was closed for three days (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). I decided after it reopened (because I'm a bit nosy--lol!) to eat at Rod's on Saturday. I found out that they were filming Mad Men. :)

I can see that being in Mad Men. Those green seats have to go. :p
Oh and I would have done the same thing you did to see what was going on. :p

I know what you mean. Years ago when Tom Hanks was filming That Thing You Do in Orange, I hung around there for two weeks and shot several rolls of film. Part of the movie takes place in Erie, PA in 1964 so they dressed up the Orange Circle area to look like that era. Most of the pics I took were of the cars and extras when the cameras were rolling.

These aren't my pictures but this was the set.
