Even if you don't like cars.....

One of my favorite golden era places to visit is the Auburn-Cord-Duesenburg museum in Auburn, Indiana.

Even if you aren't interested in automobiles, the wonderful Art Deco building that was the factory - the recreated office spaces all combine in a wonderful representation of the golden era.

I couldn't find a thread on the museum but I wondered how many on this forum have visited.

I have always wished for a similar situation for the Pierce Arrow in the old Buffalo New York plant.

You know, I haven't been, I haven't even heard about it since I just read this thread!

I'd be really interested in going some time... soon as things are better with money and I have a little time to fly out there.

By the way, I think I'd have a drool attack because, I love cars as well as deco and old office decor... it's all good to me!

If you could provide some photos, that would be pretty swell!

I've been to the museum a few times for cocktail parties while attending the Auburn auction. It's a wonderful place. Auburn is also home to a truck museum as well; not to be missed.

Fabulous destination for anyone in or visiting the Midwest. Got a ride in a Duesenberg J roadster there. Like being in an open cockpit biplane that never leaves the ground.

Been to the Nethercutt. Well worth the visit but you definitely have to reserve the tour in advance, as there's no point in going if you don't see them fire up that huge mechanical bandstand.

It has been a long time since I have been there - too long in fact - but I recall that one floor, which may be the one with the musical instruments, and the elevator are art deco. I sold them the M-B 300 SL Gullwing that they have on display back around 1980 or 81. Wow, how time flies.

Cheers, Jim.

I've been to both A-C-D and Nethercutt. Both are outstanding!

Some other great auto museums include The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI, the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, MI and the GM Heritage Center in Sterling Heights, MI.

The AACA Museum in Hershey, PA is also quite good. It is unique in that it also houses a collection of vintage busses!

ACD Festival

The annual Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg festival will be here over the upcoming labor day weekend. Always a good time to visit and stake out a spot for the Saturday morning parade of classics. Truly a cool place to be!
