O.K. here's one for all you USAAF afficianados,I recently found a color example photo of a 487th Bomb Group insignia, it is NOT the well known "Gentlemen From Hell" devil design, it is of a totally different design, it has a motto scroll at bottom below shield "Strength and Precision" the shield has a large aerial bomb at a 45 degree(Approx) angle nose to lower right, above it to right a 3 armed Cactus and below bomb to left a large tree in full growth,at the top of shield the ribbon/rope type bar of alternating color and at it's center a 5 point star w/spot and at each side of star there is a wing in raised form and to the immediate left/right of star the side view of a B-24(Left) and a B-17(right).
I also have a B&W photo copy of this emblem at the Lavenham UK Officier's Club bar, I am trying to find out the exact time of this emblems creation stateside and it's movement overseas until replaced by the G.F.H. unit design.
If you can help Please contact me directly at my e mail ,thank you !!!
I can e mail color version if you e mail me!
