I am selling these Edwin Clapp vintage shoes. For those shoe buffs, these shoes are a mark of excellence in the great shoes made back in the day. They are hand lasted, and that is the first major attraction to the Edwin Clapp shoes. The leather is super nice, finer selections of leather make a shoe have far more attractive look to it and will last longer than cheap skate leather. The age of shoes were really booming when these were made.

These have 7 shoe lace eyelets. A mild spade sole shape, and a fairly narrow waist on them. The wear on the soles are very minimal, just as the wear on the heels are not much at all. A great guess would be that these shoes maybe have been worn only 7 or 8 times period. The leather is in super nice condition. NO creases or rips or weak spots anywhere and the stitching on the leather uppers, and the sole, had been done by a master craftsmen shoe maker. These are all hand made. The leather appears to be some very fine, smoothed tightly grained leather and most likely that leather came from Italy, fine Italian calf.

The inside of these shoes are in super great and clean condition, nothing "amiss" there at all. You can clearly see the seal/emblem trademark "Edwin Clapp" and it is still very clear, clean, and in like new condition. It gives some good indication of how little wear these shoes have actually had. It would be worn off if a lot of wear was involved.

There is one very small spot on the surface of the leather back near the outside of one of the heels and that spot is about the size of the end of a pencil eraser. The leather sort of looks like it was dinged there. That is all I can find wrong and everything else is just great. The rubber heels show a very small slight amount of edge wear and the soles have a minimal amount of surface wear on them. No separation on the heels or soles or on the welt. The hand stitching on the welt is in great shape, the white thread is fairly clean and white.

Condition of the uppers is fantastic as to how nice and supple the leather is. I did do our normal routine on these. They had some spray "hospiseptic" given all over the shoe, and the insides. Germ killer just to be safe. Then a saddle soap bath on the insides and outside. Then the insides of these have had the Cadillac Conditioner treatment to really soak the leather. They may not have really needed it, but they got the treatment. Soaked for a few days inside and out. Several coats of saphir cream polish and buffed off, then only one coat of saphir high gloss black wax and buffed off. The leather grain is so tight and shines so very well, these did not need the wet shine with a cotton ball and water.

These shoes fit my Husband only a bit snug when we first obtained them, and they are a marked size 11 1/2 AA/B.

They measure 12 3/8 inches long and 4 1/4 wide. Some modern shoes that are a marked size 10 1/2 D fall within the inner and outer measurements of these shoe.

My Husband's feet are too swollen now from his heart condition. I could keep these and hope in the future they would fit again, and I could spend some time stretching these to maybe make that be so. But no....I am just going to offer up these great vintage shoes at a fairly decent price to you here on the lounge.

I wanted to give some indication as to what these shoes are for anyone really wanting a super nice pair of vintage shoes without having to break the bank. If you window shop for these and can find them in this nice of shape, expect to part with close to $300.00 or so for them. Maybe more?

I am selling these for only $200.00 and shipped anywhere in the Continent of the USA for that price. If you are anywhere else, you will have to pay some extra for shipping. And if you desire to make me a decent offer, I may not turn you down, nothing ventured nothing gained! But these are a very desirable shoe. There is a embossed stamp down half way on the inside of the shoe given it the name of "Diplomat". They are a well made, sharp looking pair of shoes without a doubt.

PM me if you have an interest or any questions. You will want to ask me about the fitting issue. If you have a fairly wide foot, these are not going to work for you. If you wear a 10 1/2 D or an 11C these can work. Or if you have a narrow foot and wear an 11 -11 1/2 shoe.

Thank you so much! Yes the size of things makes me wish there could be some sort of futuristic gizmo....need a smaller head for a hat to fit? No problem..."ZAP" there ya go, the hats can fit now! The same with feet/shoes! These are really some nice shoes. The have a turn of the century appeal vintage era wise, and shine super nice.

But these shoes will find a new home from someone that they will fit.

This pair reminds me so much of my Church's Consul model of shoe, (5 pair that I bought during the 70's/80s and have started again to wear)

but yours are so much nicer! I'm thinking of (lol) Botoxing my feet so that these "new ones" will fit my feet.
