Many moons ago Eddie Bauer had some great outdoor wear, also LL Bean.I have been seaching and with no luck for an Eddie Bauer "Skyliner" jacket, you name the site I have spendt much time looking, even if they re-issued the thing I guess I would have to buy it.Though I believe most of there wear is not made in Seattle anymore. Some jackets come close but no cigar. When you want what you want you got to have it.I am obsessed with the hunt.

Most? I think that just about everything Eddie Bauer sells is no longer made in Seattle. Seems like everything E-B that I have owned for years says.... are you ready??...

Made in China

Eddie Bauer started out as a supplier to sportsmen: Fishermen, hunters, hikers, etc. Now it seems to be more geared toward the poseur. About the only goods I buy there now are when they're on big-time sale. Unfortunately, the same thing seems to be the case at LL Bean. Both of those guys are probably rolling in their graves. I spend most of my money at Cabela's now, although they're fully into the China supply chain as well. A shame.

I did pick up a good as new, made in Oregon Pendleton wool shirt for 7 bucks on Ebay recently. Sweet!

Cabelas seems to be more into the serious deerhunting kind of stuff. I see less and less wool, and more and more polyester and balistic nylon in digital camo or blaze orange. No thanks.

It hasn't been made in the States for years & years & years - as someone else posted, most comes from China. They've been a subsidiary of Spiegel for a long time...and every time there's a financial crunch, Spiegel puts them on the market as a means of possibly proping up the saging financial results of "60609" with the sale of their best-known subsidiary.

Kind of Sad

Kid of sad in a way,it was nice 30 plus years ago when you got the Bauer catalog(was not that big) had some great US made stuff, also the LL Bean catalog buffalo plaid shirts, the classic Bean hunting pacs.Believe or not I still have 2 pair of the "Old" ones, even the camp moccasins China? Vietnam?.I buy my camp moc`s from Quoddy in Maine, and a small maker in Sturbridge Mass Pelkey, hand made!.Frustrated yes.I still keep looking. Thanks Brian.

I have a few of these shirts from LL Bean and they are great shirts, but I cannot speak for the rest of the company's merchandise:

http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/st...84&cat4=2104&shop_method=pp&feat=4284-tn&np=Y

It is upsetting that Orvis, LL, and EB have transitioned all (if not most) manufacturing to China - yet kept their price points as if the clothing were still made stateside. As a result, I am extremely selective about what I buy from these companies.
