Ebay says women's; I'm thinking men's.

So, I've found something I've been trying to find for a while now; a belted, short, wool coat. The problem is, the auction is listed as a women's coat.

Now, I've seen one or two jackets that look just like this in very old family photos being worn by men. Is it possible that this is a men's coat? Is there a good way of telling?

The auction in question:

It's listed in the mens section, and yes it is a mens coat. My guess would be they cross-listed in women's as well because of its small size.

*nod* Probably right.

Also, why are these so hard to find? They seem to have been pretty common back in the day.

I always thought that the true Norfolk jacket had those 'suspenders' over the shoulders to support a pocket full of game. That jacket doesn't look like it would be the least bit happy with a pheasant sticking out of the side. Ladies.

True, it is a small size, and it's regrettably displayed on a women's mannequin, as men's suits sold by dealers who primarily deal women's all too often are.

But

It buttons on the men's side. The breast pocket is on the men's side. The norfolk jacket was a men's style. It's cut and constructed as mens jackets were. There'd no doubt that it's a men's jacket.
