Hey, @alanfgag what do you think of this Borsalino Milan I just bought for 40 bucks? Is it really 50s or early 60s? Is it the real wheat straw from China? If not, when did the real Milan straw stop being sent to Italy?

From the sweatband and size tag I would guess later. The manufacturing tag should provide more clues. Looks like milan braid to me.

Defeat
Lock and Co. Town Coke, advertised as 7 1/4, showed up in a Lock box marked 7 1/4 London Brown, inside was a Town Coke but just absurdly large on my head.
Came from an auction place which looked at the box, saw the hat, ignored the London Brown written on the outside, looked at the 7 1/4 and didn't bother to see what size the hat actually is.
Back it goes.

That’s what I’m talking about! Nice hats in large sizes can usually find a home if you put them in our classifieds. If it doesn’t sell in a few days you can return it then.

I touched a beaver pelt once in Wisconsin, and regretted not buying it at the time. The feeling was magnificent!

I think this one might be even nicer than that one. It turns out that the darker the pelt, the more prized it is. Some are even dyed black, but I didn't want that.

I even started looking at beaver pelt hats today. They look wonderful.
