You could have won for a few more bucks My bid was purely speculative, I expected the hat to sell for over $100.

If I had a head big enough for that Akubra, I'd take the $90, set it aside for a custom or another, rare vintage hat, and be happy that I didn't spend $90 on junk.

My bids were half-hearted on that Dobbs; it's just too rare that a 3/8 is a comfy fit for me. Great deal for the winner, I agree.

Agree also on that big ungainly Akubra.

The Dobbs is a nice looking hat - it reminds me of the Homburgs that Delectans and SBG have.

There seem to be a lot of good deals (for buyers) at the moment - other than Whippets, which seem to be getting a little more expensive.

Doesn't happen to me very often, Alan. For what I paid, I'm not too worried, but it does look to be a nice hat.

That 4x is a pretty low quality hat, but it's nicely styled.

Randall - watch the Vintage Workwear thread in the General Attire section. I'm not sure of whether that one is reasonably priced (probably not, with it's 1700 views), but there are many, many others, in quite a few styles, that have gone for far more than that asking price.

This one is priced pretty high, but I could see it going for well over $300. Not only do the Japanese love these bits of Americana, Carhartt has also been snapping up some of it to decorate their own shops.

True-- it wasn't anything special in terms of felt quality, but I've seen 3X's go (even if inexplicably) for almost that price point. Maybe it's the common size paired with the brand name? I just thought it looked to be in really great shape.

I see you bid on the Brüder Böhm too. This is the first Brüder Böhm (Fedora, Melone, ect) I have seen come up for auction so not that concerned about the ribbon situation.

Pretty pissed off... just received what was advertised as an XL top hat with no dents size 7 1/2 with a circumference of 23 and 3/8 " and what I got was a top hat covered in dents and a size 7, with a 22" circumference. The bucket appears to be for a much larger hat.

I can understand making a slight error in measurement such that the sizing is a little off, but saying it is 4 sizes larger is basically fraud, especially when you do it on ebay where agressive bidders raise the price astronomically when they smell a rare size. Contacted seller, will open an investigation if it is not resolved quickly.

That's a shame, NTOP, the auction photos are very encouraging. Return looks like an option - suggest an accommodation on the return freight. Seller seems to be rated well.
